Films

In order to embrace a new chapter in his life, a man sets his now-empty home ablaze and departs in a car. While he unveils the tranquil beauty of the landscapes, an unexpected serenity washes over him, allowing him to make peace with past. Reaching the ocean’s edge, he sees a woman emerging gracefully from the waves.

‘To Build a Fire’ is a work of fiction exploring themes of love and loss. Crafted from hundreds of vintage 8mm American home movies sourced from the Prelinger Archives, the film is an addition to the a series recombining real found footage to create stories. The soundtrack features contemporary music by Christine Ott, Richard Skelton, Fatalism, and Otto Lindholm. The film intentionally respects original technical configuration, like a frame rate of 18 fps and a classic 4:3 aspect ratio.
